How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the control panel or top electronics compartment.
- Locate ambient sensor: On many Hotpoint-Ariston freezers, the ambient sensor is located near the control panel or in the top/front of the cabinet behind a small grille.
- Check for obstruction: Ensure the sensor area is not blocked by cabinetry or insulation that could cause incorrect readings.
- Inspect wiring: Remove the control panel cover (if accessible) and inspect the sensor connector and wiring for damage or loose fit. Reseat the connector.
- Test sensor (if equipped): Use a multimeter to measure resistance and compare with service data. Replace the sensor if readings are out of range.
- Replace ambient sensor: If faulty, install a new Hotpoint-Ariston ambient NTC sensor, routing the cable as originally installed to avoid pinching.
