Freezer shows error A6; compressor may not start or may shut down quickly.

Safety first: Unplug the freezer before accessing the compressor area. High voltage and hot surfaces are present. Do not attempt sealed system repairs without proper training.

• Listen for compressor behavior: When powered, does the compressor click and then stop, or remain silent? Repeated clicking suggests a start device issue.
• Inspect compressor connections: Remove the rear lower cover to access the compressor. Check the start relay/PTC and overload protector for signs of burning or cracking. Ensure all connectors are firmly seated.
• Check for overheating: If the compressor shell is extremely hot, allow it to cool fully before further testing.
• Replace start device (non-inverter models): If the start relay/PTC is suspect, replace it with the correct Hotpoint-Ariston compressor start device specified for your model.
• Inverter models: If your freezer uses an inverter board mounted near the compressor, inspect it for burnt components. Inverter or compressor diagnosis beyond visual inspection should be done by a qualified technician.
• Do not open sealed system: If the compressor itself is faulty, replacement requires refrigerant handling and must be performed by a licensed refrigeration technician.
