Possible Causes
Damaged or hardened door gasket, Door hinges misaligned, Obstruction preventing full closure, Cabinet or door warped
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No major electrical hazard, but be cautious of slipping on melted ice.
- Inspect gasket: Look for tears, gaps, or areas where the gasket does not contact the cabinet. Clean it with warm soapy water and dry.
- Check for obstructions: Ensure food packages or shelves are not preventing the door from closing fully.
- Adjust leveling and hinges: Tilt the freezer slightly back using the front feet and adjust hinges if possible so the door self-closes.
- Replace gasket: If the gasket is deformed or hardened, replace it with the correct Hotpoint-Ariston door gasket. Warm the new gasket with a hair dryer on low to help it seal.
