How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No internal electrical work is required for basic checks.
Immediate actions:
- Close the freezer door firmly and ensure nothing is blocking it from sealing.
- Press the alarm reset or mute button to silence the alarm while you troubleshoot.
Check door switch:
- Open the door and locate the door switch (usually near the frame). Press it manually; the interior light should turn off.
- If the light stays on or the alarm does not reset when the switch is pressed, the switch may be faulty.
- Unplug the freezer, remove the switch, and test for continuity with a multimeter. Replace with an Igloo-compatible door switch if defective.
Check temperature:
- Use a separate freezer thermometer to verify actual temperature. If the freezer is warm, follow the high temperature troubleshooting steps (see H1).
Monitor: After correcting door or temperature issues, the AL alarm should clear automatically within a few hours.
