Possible Causes
Normal automatic defrost cycle active, Control board indicating defrost status, Misinterpreted as an error code
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: On many Igloo digital freezers, a dF or DF indication simply means the unit is in a scheduled defrost cycle and is not an error.
What to do:
- Do not unplug the freezer during a normal defrost cycle; this can extend the time needed to resume cooling.
- Allow 20–40 minutes for the defrost cycle to complete. The display should return to normal temperature readout afterward.
- Ensure the door remains closed during defrost to maintain temperature.
If dF persists for many hours:
- Unplug the freezer for 10 minutes, then plug it back in. If dF immediately reappears and cooling never resumes, the control board may be stuck in defrost.
- In that case, the main control board may need to be replaced by a technician.
