Possible Causes

Thermostat or control set too low, Stuck relay on control board keeping compressor on, Faulty temperature sensor reading too low

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the freezer before accessing control components.

Basic adjustments:

  • Check the set temperature on the control panel. Raise the setpoint a few degrees toward warmer and monitor.
  • Ensure the ambient room temperature is within the manufacturer's recommended range; very cold rooms can cause control issues on some models.

Check sensors and control:

  • Test the cabinet thermistor for proper resistance at known temperatures. Replace if readings are out of specification.
  • If the compressor runs almost constantly even when the interior is extremely cold, the main control board relay may be stuck closed.

Control board replacement:

  • If sensor tests good but overcooling persists, replace the main control board with an Igloo-compatible part.
  • Transfer all wiring harnesses one by one to the new board to avoid miswiring.

Monitor: After repair, allow 24 hours for temperatures to stabilize and confirm that the L1/LO alarm no longer appears.
