Possible Causes
Thermostat stuck closed, Faulty temperature sensor reading too warm, Control board not cycling compressor off
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before accessing controls or sensors.
Control setting:
- Raise the temperature setting one or two levels toward warmer and monitor for 24 hours.
Check thermostat or sensor:
- On mechanical models, test the thermostat for continuity. It should open (no continuity) when the interior is sufficiently cold. If it remains closed, replace the thermostat.
- On electronic models, test the cabinet thermistor resistance at known temperatures and replace if out of spec.
Control board:
- If the compressor runs almost continuously despite correct sensor readings, the main control board relay may be stuck and the board should be replaced.
