Possible Causes
Blocked defrost drain hole, Frozen drain tube, Cracked or misaligned drain pan, Excessive frost due to door gasket leak
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before removing interior panels. Use towels to catch water.
Clear the defrost drain:
- Remove the interior rear panel to access the evaporator and drain trough.
- Locate the drain hole at the bottom of the trough. It may be covered by ice.
- Use warm (not boiling) water in a turkey baster or squeeze bottle to melt ice and flush the drain.
- Run water until it flows freely into the drain pan under the unit.
Check the drain tube and pan:
- From the rear, inspect the drain tube for kinks or blockages and the drain pan for cracks or misalignment.
- Clean debris from the pan and ensure it is properly seated under the drain outlet.
Prevent recurrence:
- Verify the door gasket seals well to reduce excess frost and defrost water.
