Possible Causes

Open or shorted freezer NTC sensor, Damaged sensor harness, Corroded connector at control board, Faulty control board input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from mains before testing sensors.

  • Locate freezer sensor: Typically behind a small cover on the inner wall or attached to the evaporator. Remove the cover carefully.
  • Inspect and test: Check for visible damage. Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to Ignis specifications. Replace if open/shorted.
  • Check harness: Follow the sensor wires to the control board, looking for pinched or broken sections. Repair or replace the harness if needed.

If a new sensor does not clear E1, the main control board may be defective and require replacement.
