Possible Causes
Defective mechanical thermostat, Broken thermostat capillary, Faulty electronic temperature control, Loose control knob shaft
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before removing the control housing.
- Check knob and settings: Ensure the thermostat knob is not broken and is set above the OFF position.
- Test mechanical thermostat: Bypass the thermostat temporarily by connecting its two main wires together (for test only). If the compressor starts, replace the thermostat.
- Inspect capillary tube: Ensure the sensing bulb is properly positioned and not kinked or broken.
For electronic controls, a faulty PCB may be the cause and should be replaced by a technician.
