Possible Causes

Door left open or frequently opened, Recent large warm food load, Failed evaporator fan, Low refrigerant charge or sealed system leak

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: No immediate electrical hazard, but avoid leaving the door open for long periods to protect food safety.

Steps to address H1/HI:

  • Check door seal and usage: Ensure the door is fully closing and the gasket is sealing all around. Reduce door openings and allow several hours for temperature to recover after loading warm food.
  • Verify set temperature: Confirm the setpoint is at the recommended freezer temperature (around -18°C / 0°F).
  • Listen for compressor and fan: Ensure the compressor is running and that you can hear the evaporator fan when the door switch is pressed closed.
  • Inspect for frost blockage: Heavy frost on the evaporator cover can restrict airflow. If present, fully defrost the unit by unplugging and leaving doors open until all ice melts, then restart.
  • Monitor temperature: Place a freezer thermometer inside and check after 12–24 hours. If temperature remains high despite normal operation, there may be a sealed system issue (leak, restriction, weak compressor).

When to call a technician: If the compressor runs continuously but the freezer never reaches proper temperature, a sealed system diagnosis by a refrigeration technician is required.
