Possible Causes

Failed compressor start relay/overload, Open compressor winding, Faulty main control board not sending power, Loose wiring at compressor terminals

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the freezer before accessing the compressor compartment. High voltage is present in this area.

Steps:

  • Verify power: Confirm the outlet has power and the freezer's power cord is fully inserted.
  • Listen for sounds: When plugged in, listen for any humming or clicking from the compressor area. Then unplug before proceeding.
  • Access compressor: Remove the rear lower panel to expose the compressor and start device.
  • Inspect start relay/overload: Remove the plastic cover and pull off the start device. Check for burn marks, melted plastic, or rattling when shaken.
  • Test compressor windings: With a multimeter, measure resistance between the three compressor pins and from each pin to ground (compressor shell). Open or shorted readings indicate a bad compressor.
  • Replace start device: If the compressor windings are good, install a new Midea-compatible start relay/overload assembly and retest.

When to call a technician: If the compressor windings are faulty or the compressor still will not start with a new start device, a sealed system technician is required.
