Safety Warning

This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.

If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.

Possible Causes

Slow refrigerant leak in evaporator or pipework, Blocked capillary tube, Internal compressor wear reducing pumping capacity, Previously incorrect sealed-system repair

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Do not attempt to cut or open refrigerant lines yourself. This requires specialist equipment and certification.

  • Check condenser temperature: With the unit running, carefully feel the condenser coils or rear panel. They should be warm. If they are barely warm, refrigerant charge may be low.
  • Inspect frost pattern: On no-frost models, remove the inner rear panel and observe the evaporator after 15–20 minutes of running. A healthy system shows even frost across most of the coil. Frost only at the inlet or no frost suggests a sealed-system issue.
  • Listen for compressor: If the compressor runs continuously but cooling is poor, this supports a sealed-system fault.

Sealed-system diagnosis and repair (leak detection, evacuation, recharging, or compressor replacement) must be performed by an F-gas certified refrigeration engineer. Do not attempt DIY repairs on the refrigerant circuit.
