Freezer runs continuously, condenser coils or rear panel extremely hot

Safety: Unplug the freezer before cleaning. Coils and metal edges can be sharp.

• Clean condenser: Pull the freezer away from the wall. Use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust from rear or bottom condenser coils.
• Check spacing: Ensure at least the manufacturer-recommended clearance (often 5–10 cm) around the sides and back for airflow.
• Inspect condenser fan: On some larger Montpellier models, a fan cools the condenser. Verify it spins freely and runs when the compressor is on. Replace if faulty.
• Room temperature: Avoid placing the freezer in very hot rooms or direct sunlight.

After cleaning and improving ventilation, monitor operation. If overheating persists, a technician should check system pressures and compressor performance.
