Possible Causes
Failed compressor start relay/PTC, Open thermal overload on compressor, Faulty main control board, Failed compressor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before accessing the compressor compartment. Do not open sealed refrigerant lines.
Steps:
- Listen for compressor and fan operation when the unit is plugged in. If silent, proceed to the rear.
- Remove the rear lower panel to access the compressor and start device.
- Check if the compressor is hot to the touch; a very hot, silent compressor may have a tripped overload.
- Inspect the start relay/PTC for burn marks or rattling pieces inside when shaken gently (a sign of failure).
- Replace the start relay/PTC with a compatible Ocean part if damaged.
- If the compressor hums briefly then clicks off, the start device or compressor may be failing; replacing the start device is the first step.
- If a new start device does not restore cooling, the compressor or main control board may be defective; contact a professional technician for sealed system diagnosis.
