Freezer not cooling at all, interior warm, lights may still work

Safety first: Unplug the freezer before accessing the compressor compartment. Do not open sealed refrigerant lines.

Steps:

• Listen for compressor and fan operation when the unit is plugged in. If silent, proceed to the rear.
• Remove the rear lower panel to access the compressor and start device.
• Check if the compressor is hot to the touch; a very hot, silent compressor may have a tripped overload.
• Inspect the start relay/PTC for burn marks or rattling pieces inside when shaken gently (a sign of failure).
• Replace the start relay/PTC with a compatible Ocean part if damaged.
• If the compressor hums briefly then clicks off, the start device or compressor may be failing; replacing the start device is the first step.
• If a new start device does not restore cooling, the compressor or main control board may be defective; contact a professional technician for sealed system diagnosis.
