Possible Causes

Refrigerant leak in evaporator or condenser, Restricted capillary tube, Weak compressor, Internal leak in heat exchanger

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Do not attempt to cut or open refrigerant lines without proper certification and tools.

Steps (owner-level checks):

  • Verify that the temperature control is set correctly and that doors are sealing properly.
  • Ensure condenser coils (rear or bottom) are clean and that the condenser fan (if present) is running.
  • Check for frost pattern on the evaporator: after running for 20–30 minutes, a healthy system should show even frost across most of the coil. A small patch of frost near the inlet with the rest bare often indicates a sealed system issue.
  • If fans and compressor run continuously but cooling is poor and frost pattern is abnormal, a sealed system problem is likely.
  • Sealed system repairs (refrigerant recharge, leak detection, compressor replacement) must be performed by a licensed refrigeration technician.
