Proline freezer displays E7 and the internal fan may not run, causing uneven cooling and ice buildup.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the fan. Beware of sharp fins on the evaporator.
Steps to resolve E7:
- 1. Confirm fan operation: With the door switch held closed and the unit powered (for testing only), the evaporator fan should run when the compressor is on. If it does not, unplug the freezer and continue.
- 2. Access the fan: Remove baskets and the inner rear panel to expose the evaporator and fan shroud.
- 3. Check for ice blockage: Look for ice buildup around the fan blades or shroud. If present, fully defrost the unit and ensure the defrost system is working (see defrost-related codes).
- 4. Inspect fan wiring: Check the fan motor connector and wiring harness for damage or loose connections.
- 5. Test fan motor: Disconnect the fan and measure resistance across its terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. On DC fans, also verify correct supply voltage from the control board when the fan should be running.
- 6. Replace faulty fan: Install a compatible Proline evaporator fan motor, transfer the fan blade if separate, and secure the assembly in the original position.
Note: If the fan motor is good but not receiving power, the main control PCB or door switch circuit may be faulty and should be checked by a technician.
