Possible Causes
Door left open or not sealing, Recent large warm food load, Failed compressor or low refrigerant charge, Evaporator fan not running
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the door is closed properly and that ventilation around the freezer is adequate.
Steps to respond to H1/HI:
- 1. Check door and gasket: Make sure the door closes fully and the gasket is clean and undamaged. Remove any items blocking closure.
- 2. Verify ventilation: Ensure there is sufficient space around the sides, back, and top of the freezer as specified in the Proline manual. Clear dust from the condenser grille at the rear or underneath.
- 3. Consider recent usage: If you recently added a large quantity of unfrozen food or the door was open for a long time, allow 12–24 hours for temperature to recover. The alarm may clear automatically.
- 4. Listen for compressor and fan: Confirm that the compressor is running and that the internal fan operates when the door switch is pressed. If either is not running, investigate related faults (compressor or fan issues).
- 5. Check for ice buildup: Remove the inner rear panel (with power off) and inspect the evaporator. A solid block of ice indicates a defrost problem that must be resolved.
When to call a technician: If the freezer remains warm after 24 hours with the door closed and no obvious airflow or defrost issues, there may be a sealed-system problem (refrigerant leak, blocked capillary) requiring professional service.
