Steps to check temperature control:
- 1. Verify with a thermometer: Place an accurate freezer thermometer inside and compare actual temperature to the setpoint.
- 2. Adjust setting: Turn the thermostat or digital setting to a colder position and monitor for several hours. If there is no change, the control may be faulty.
- 3. Mechanical thermostat models: Access the thermostat knob area, remove the cover, and inspect the capillary sensor bulb. Ensure it is properly positioned against the evaporator plate or wall. Replace the thermostat if it does not switch the compressor on/off correctly.
- 4. Electronic models: Test the cabinet NTC sensor and replace if out of specification. If sensor is good, the main control PCB may need replacement.
