Possible Causes
Aged or brittle gasket material, Physical damage from cleaning tools, Misaligned door compressing gasket unevenly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before replacing the gasket to avoid the compressor starting while the door is open for an extended period.
- 1. Order correct gasket: Use the Severin model number to obtain the exact replacement door gasket.
- 2. Remove old gasket: Gently pull the gasket out of its retaining groove or unscrew the inner liner screws that clamp it, depending on design.
- 3. Install new gasket: Fit the new gasket into the groove or under the liner, starting at the corners and working along the sides. Ensure it is fully seated with no twists.
- 4. Warm and adjust: Use a hair dryer on low to soften the gasket and help it conform to the cabinet. Close the door and check for uniform contact all around.
- 5. Recheck after a day: Inspect the seal again after 24 hours and adjust if necessary.
