Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.

Possible Causes
Failed evaporator fan motor, Ice blockage around fan blades, Broken fan wiring harness, Faulty fan driver circuit on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before accessing the evaporator area or fan wiring.
- 1. Access the fan: Remove baskets and the inner rear panel to expose the evaporator and fan assembly (on no-frost Severin freezers).
- 2. Check for ice obstruction: Inspect the fan blades and shroud for heavy ice buildup. If present, perform a full manual defrost: leave the freezer unplugged with the door open for several hours, using towels to collect water. Do not chip ice with sharp tools.
- 3. Spin the fan by hand: After defrosting, gently rotate the fan blades. They should spin freely without grinding. If stiff or noisy, the motor is likely failing.
- 4. Test fan voltage: With the unit reassembled enough for safe operation and plugged in, carefully measure voltage at the fan connector when the compressor is running (use extreme caution). If rated voltage is present but the fan does not run, replace the fan motor.
- 5. Replace fan motor: Unplug the freezer again. Disconnect the fan wiring, remove mounting screws or clips, and install a Severin-compatible evaporator fan motor. Refit the fan blade and shroud.
- 6. Reassemble and test: Reinstall the inner panel, restore power, and confirm that E8 clears and the fan runs whenever the compressor is on.
If no voltage is supplied to a known-good fan, the main control board or wiring harness may be faulty and should be checked by a technician.
