Possible Causes
Stuck thermostat relay on control board, Shorted cabinet temperature sensor, Incorrect sensor placement, Control board calibration fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before accessing the control panel or sensors.
- 1. Verify set temperature: Ensure the setpoint is not at the coldest setting. Adjust to a warmer setting (e.g., -18°C) and monitor for 24 hours.
- 2. Check cabinet sensor: Test the cabinet NTC resistance. A shorted sensor will cause the control to think the freezer is warmer than it is, leading to overcooling. Replace if readings are abnormally low.
- 3. Inspect sensor placement: Ensure the sensor is not touching the evaporator directly unless designed to. It should sense cabinet air temperature.
- 4. Evaluate control board: If the sensor is good and correctly placed but the compressor rarely cycles off, the thermostat relay or logic on the PCB may be stuck. Replace the main control board.
