Possible Causes
Clogged defrost drain hole, Ice plug in drain tube, Debris blocking drain trough, Cracked drain tube causing leaks
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before defrosting or accessing the drain.
- 1. Locate drain hole: Inside no-frost Severin freezers, the defrost drain is usually at the bottom of the evaporator area behind the inner rear panel.
- 2. Manual defrost: Remove food, unplug the unit, and allow ice to melt. Use towels to absorb water. Do not use sharp tools to chip ice.
- 3. Clear drain: Use a soft plastic tube or pipe cleaner to gently clear the drain hole. Pour a small amount of warm (not boiling) water into the drain to flush it through to the rear drip tray.
- 4. Inspect drain tube: From the rear, locate the drain tube leading to the drip tray above the compressor. Ensure it is not kinked or disconnected. Reattach or replace if damaged.
- 5. Reassemble and test: After clearing, reassemble panels, restore power, and monitor for further leaks over several days.
