Possible Causes
Failed condenser fan motor, Fan blades obstructed by debris, Burnt or loose fan wiring, Faulty control board fan output
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer. The condenser fan is near live mains wiring and hot components.
Steps:
- Access condenser fan: Remove the rear lower cover to expose the condenser coil, fan, and compressor.
- Inspect for blockage: Check for dust, plastic bags, or insulation blocking the fan blades. Remove any debris.
- Spin test: Turn the fan blades by hand. If stiff or noisy, the motor bearings may be worn and the motor should be replaced.
- Electrical test: Disconnect the fan connector and measure resistance across the motor. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
- Check wiring: Inspect the harness for burns or cuts. Repair as needed.
- Replace fan motor: Install a new OEM Westinghouse condenser fan motor. Ensure blades are correctly oriented and clear of the shroud.
- If motor and wiring are good: The main control board may not be energizing the fan and may need replacement.
