Possible Causes
Failed electronic thermostat circuit, Faulty temperature selector knob or buttons, Broken wiring between UI and control board, Defective main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before removing any control components.
Steps:
- Check user settings: Confirm that the temperature is not set to a warm setting or demo mode (if available). Refer to the user manual.
- Inspect control panel: Remove the control panel cover and check for stuck buttons, cracked PCB, or moisture damage.
- Test mechanical thermostat (if equipped): On some chest freezers, a mechanical thermostat is used. Bypass it temporarily (for testing only) by connecting the two main wires together with an insulated jumper. If the compressor starts, the thermostat is faulty and must be replaced. Remove the jumper immediately after test.
- Replace faulty component: Install a new OEM Westinghouse thermostat or control panel as required.
