Possible Causes

Failed magnetic reed switch or mechanical door switch, Misaligned door or gasket preventing full closure, Broken or pinched door switch wiring, Faulty input circuit on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the freezer before removing switch assemblies.

  • Check door closure: Verify the door closes fully and the gasket makes uniform contact. Adjust leveling legs so the door self-closes from a partially open position.
  • Inspect the switch: Locate the door switch (usually in the liner near the top or side). Press it manually; the interior light should turn off. If not, the switch may be faulty.
  • Test continuity: Remove the switch, disconnect wires, and test with a multimeter while pressing the plunger. Replace if it does not change state (open/closed) correctly.
  • Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the switch to the control board for damage, especially where it passes through the cabinet.
  • Control board: If the switch and wiring are good but the alarm persists, the control board input may be defective and require replacement.
