Possible Causes
Leaking pump seals,Corroded primary heat exchanger,Dripping automatic air vent,Loose union on hydraulic block
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and close the system isolation valves if possible. Place a container or towels to catch water.
- Locate leak source: Remove the front cover and carefully inspect with a torch. Look for water trails from the pump, heat exchanger, air vent, or pipe joints.
- Tighten unions: Gently tighten any accessible union nuts that are weeping, taking care not to overtighten and damage seals.
- Air vent: If the automatic air vent is leaking from the cap, ensure the cap is slightly open (as designed) but not cracked. Replace the vent if it continues to leak.
- Component replacement: Leaking pumps or heat exchangers generally require replacement by a qualified technician. Do not operate the furnace with an active leak.
