Possible Causes
Seized burner motor bearings, Defective motor capacitor, Overloaded motor due to blocked fan or pump, Faulty motor contactor or relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power. Rotating parts can start unexpectedly if power is restored.
Steps:
- Check for free rotation: With power off, attempt to rotate the burner fan or motor shaft by hand. If it is stiff or seized, the motor or coupled pump may be mechanically jammed.
- Inspect capacitor (if external): Some Weishaupt motors use an external start/run capacitor. Look for bulging or leaking. A failed capacitor must be replaced with the exact type.
- Listen for hum: If the motor hums but does not start, this also points to capacitor or mechanical issues.
Motor replacement and electrical testing should be performed by a technician.
