Door opens normally but will not close from remote; E8 appears when attempting to close. Door will close only by holding wall button continuously (if supported).

Safety first: Never bypass safety edges for normal use. Only bypass temporarily for diagnosis if permitted by local regulations.

• Inspect safety edge: Examine the rubber bottom seal and any visible safety edge strip or sensor. Look for cuts, crush damage, or missing end caps.
• Check cable: Follow the cable from the bottom edge up the door to the opener or junction box. Repair any broken or stretched sections and ensure strain relief is in place.
• Test continuity: Disconnect the safety edge wires at the opener and test with a multimeter. For simple N/C edges, you should see continuity that changes when the edge is pressed. If readings are erratic or open, replace the edge.
• Verify wiring at PCB: Ensure the safety edge wires are on the correct terminals and polarity (if optical or 8k2 resistive type). Refer to the Cardale wiring diagram.
• Diagnostic bypass: If allowed, temporarily fit the correct resistor or link across the safety edge terminals to simulate a healthy edge. If E8 clears and the door closes, the edge or its cable is faulty. Remove the bypass after testing.
• Replace safety edge: Fit a new Cardale compatible safety edge kit and re‑test operation.
