Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power to the FAAC garage door opener before touching wiring. Keep clear of the door travel path while testing.
- Check for obstructions: Make sure nothing is blocking the FAAC safety photocells (photo beams) near the bottom of the door tracks. Clean the lenses with a soft cloth.
- Verify alignment: The transmitter and receiver must face each other directly. Adjust the brackets so the LEDs on the photocells (if equipped) are solid, not blinking.
- Inspect wiring: At the FAAC control board, locate the photocell terminals (often labeled "PHOT", "SAFE", or similar). Tug each wire gently to ensure it is firmly clamped. Look for broken insulation or crushed cable along the wall.
- Bypass test (only if allowed by local regulations): With power off, temporarily bridge the photocell input terminals with a short jumper wire to simulate a closed safety circuit. Restore power and test. If E1 clears and the door runs, the photocell set is faulty and should be replaced.
- Replace faulty photocell: If one of the photocells has no LED or is visibly damaged, replace the complete FAAC photocell kit with a compatible model and reconnect to the same terminals, observing polarity if required.
If the error persists after wiring and photocell replacement, the safety input on the control board may be defective and a professional technician should evaluate the board.
