Possible Causes
Door binding in tracks, Incorrect FAAC force setting, Worn or dry door rollers, Bent track or misaligned door
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before mechanical inspection. Do not stand under the door while testing.
- Test door balance manually: Pull the emergency release cord to disengage the FAAC opener. Lift the door by hand. It should move smoothly and stay at mid-height. If it is heavy or jerky, the door hardware or springs need service by a door specialist.
- Inspect tracks and rollers: Look for dents, bends, or obstructions in the vertical and horizontal tracks. Clean debris and lightly lubricate metal rollers and hinges with a garage door lubricant (not grease on plastic rollers).
- Check for binding points: Move the door through its full travel by hand and note any tight spots. Correct misaligned track brackets by loosening mounting bolts slightly, tapping the track into alignment, and retightening.
- Adjust force settings: On the FAAC control board, locate the force or sensitivity trimmers/buttons. Reduce sensitivity slightly (or increase force) in small increments, testing after each adjustment. Do not exceed manufacturer limits.
- Re-test with opener engaged: Reconnect the opener to the door and run a full open/close cycle. If E3 persists at the same position, the door hardware likely needs professional adjustment.
Never increase force to compensate for a clearly binding or unbalanced door; fix the mechanical issue first.
