Possible Causes
Stripped main drive gear, Seized gearbox bearings, Hardened grease inside FAAC gearbox, Overloaded door causing stall
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power and release the door from the opener. Support the door to prevent sudden movement.
- Test door manually: If the door is hard to move, have a door professional adjust springs and hardware before further opener work.
- Run opener without load: With the door disconnected, briefly power the FAAC opener. If it still hums without turning, the motor or gearbox is seized.
- Inspect drive gear: Remove the opener cover and check the main drive gear (often nylon) for missing teeth or heavy wear. Replace the gear kit if stripped.
- Replace motor/gearbox assembly: If the gear is intact but the shaft does not turn, replace the FAAC motor and gearbox assembly as a unit.
Do not continue to energize a stalled motor; this can overheat and damage the windings.
