Possible Causes

Misaligned Novoferm photocells, Dirty or obstructed photocell lenses, Broken photocell wiring, Defective photocell transmitter or receiver

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before handling wiring. The door may move unexpectedly during testing.

Steps to try:

  • Check for obstructions: Remove any objects, tools, or vehicles that may be blocking the infrared beam between the Novoferm safety photocells.
  • Clean lenses: Gently clean the photocell lenses with a soft cloth. Dust, cobwebs, or moisture can block the beam.
  • Check alignment: Ensure both photocell units are mounted at the same height and facing each other directly. The indicator LED on the receiver side should be solid when aligned (refer to your specific Novoferm model manual).
  • Inspect wiring: With power off, check the low‑voltage cables from the photocells back to the opener head. Look for cuts, crushed sections, or loose terminal screws at the control board.
  • Test bypass (for diagnosis only): On some Novoferm control boards, you can temporarily bridge the photocell input terminals with a short wire to simulate a closed circuit. If the error clears and the door runs, the photocells or their wiring are faulty. Remove the bridge immediately after testing and restore proper safety devices.

Important: Never operate the door permanently with photocells bypassed. Replace faulty photocells or wiring to maintain safety compliance.
