Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the opener from mains power before removing the cover. Capacitors on the PCB may retain charge; avoid touching bare solder joints.
Steps to try:
- Power cycle: Disconnect power for at least 1 minute, then reconnect. Observe if E6 clears temporarily.
- Inspect PCB visually: Look for burnt components, bulging capacitors, or blackened areas on the Novoferm control board. Any visible damage indicates the board must be replaced.
- Check supply voltage: Verify that the opener is connected to the correct mains voltage specified on the rating label. Incorrect voltage can cause permanent board damage.
- Disconnect accessories: Remove external accessories (key switches, external receivers, photocells) from the low‑voltage terminals and test again. A shorted accessory can sometimes trigger board errors.
If E6 persists with all accessories disconnected and no obvious wiring faults, the control board is defective. Replacement of the Novoferm control PCB is recommended; component‑level repair is not generally supported.
