How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: The safety edge prevents crushing injuries. Do not bypass it permanently. Work with power off when handling wiring.
Steps to try:
- Inspect safety edge: Examine the rubber bottom seal and integrated safety edge profile. Look for cuts, deformation, or water ingress.
- Check cabling: Follow the cable from the safety edge up the door to the Novoferm opener or junction box. Repair any cuts or crushed sections. Ensure strain reliefs are intact.
- Test continuity: With a multimeter and power off, measure continuity across the safety edge terminals. On normally closed systems, you should see continuity that opens when the edge is pressed.
- Check wireless edge (if fitted): Replace the battery in the safety edge transmitter and ensure the receiver on the opener is paired correctly.
- Temporary test bridge: For diagnosis only, bridge the safety edge input terminals at the control board. If E7 clears and the door runs, the fault is in the edge or its wiring. Remove the bridge immediately after testing.
Replace the Novoferm safety edge or associated transmitter/receiver if testing confirms a defect. Never leave the opener operating without a functional safety edge where required by regulations.
