Possible Causes
Faulty motor encoder, Loose encoder connector, Damaged encoder cable, Excessive vibration causing encoder misread
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate power before opening the motor housing or handling connectors.
Steps to try:
- Inspect encoder wiring: Locate the small multi‑core cable from the motor to the control board. Ensure the plug is fully seated and the cable is not pinched or cut.
- Check mounting: On some Novoferm motors, the encoder is mounted on the motor shaft. Verify that the encoder disc or magnet is secure and not rubbing.
- Reset limits: After reseating connections, perform a full travel/limit learning cycle so the controller can recalibrate position.
If E9 persists and the door hardware is mechanically sound, the encoder or motor assembly is defective and should be replaced.
