Possible Causes

Firmware lockup due to power surge, Corrupted memory on logic board, Stuck relay or component holding the board in reset, Internal board failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before opening the housing. Do not short any components on the board.

Steps to clear logic lockup:

  • 1. Power cycle: Unplug the opener or switch off the breaker for at least 60 seconds. This allows capacitors to discharge and can clear minor lockups. Restore power and test.
  • 2. Reset programming: If available on your Stanley model, press and hold the LEARN or SET button for 10–15 seconds until the LED blinks or goes out, indicating a reset. Reprogram remotes and limits as needed.
  • 3. Check wall button circuit: Disconnect the wall control wires at the opener. If the opener now responds to a remote, the wall control or its wiring is shorted and must be repaired.
  • 4. Inspect board: Remove the cover and look for obvious damage or corrosion. If present, replace the logic board.
  • 5. Replace logic board: If power cycling and resets do not restore operation, the microcontroller or support circuitry is likely failed. Install a Stanley-compatible replacement board or consider a new opener.
