Possible Causes
Bent vertical or horizontal track, Damaged or worn rollers, Loose track mounting brackets, Door sections misaligned or warped
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and pull the emergency release to operate the door manually while inspecting. Do not place fingers between door sections.
Steps to correct mid-travel reversal:
- 1. Manually operate door: With the opener disconnected, move the door slowly through its full travel. Note any point where it becomes stiff or binds.
- 2. Inspect tracks: Look along the vertical and horizontal tracks for bends, kinks, or misalignment. Use a level to check plumb and level. Loosen mounting bolts slightly, tap the track back into alignment, and retighten.
- 3. Check rollers: Spin each roller by hand. Replace any that are cracked, wobbly, or seized with Stanley-compatible rollers.
- 4. Tighten hardware: Tighten all track brackets, hinge bolts, and opener header bracket bolts. Loose hardware can cause the door to shift and bind.
- 5. Reconnect opener and test: Once the door moves smoothly by hand, reconnect the opener and test. If reversal persists, slightly increase down force after confirming safety.
