Possible Causes

Extended continuous operation, Blocked ventilation around motor housing, Failing motor bearings causing heat, Overly tight mounting causing vibration and heat buildup

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the switch and allow the disposal to cool for at least 20–30 minutes before further use.

  • Allow cooling: Do not repeatedly try to restart the unit while hot. Overheating can permanently damage the motor.
  • Check for obstructions: Ensure the grinding chamber is not overloaded with hard or fibrous waste. Clear any visible jams with tongs.
  • Inspect ventilation: Confirm that cleaning supplies or insulation are not packed tightly around the disposal body, blocking airflow.
  • Reset overload: After cooling, press the reset button on the bottom of the unit and test with a small load.

If E07 recurs quickly under light use, the motor’s internal thermal protector is reacting to failing bearings or internal damage. Replacement of the disposal is recommended.
