E01
Garbage disposal will not power on at all, no humming, no sound, status LED on control module is off.
No Power to Motor Circuit
E02
Garbage disposal hums but the grinding plate does not spin; unit may shut off on overload after a few seconds.
Impeller Plate Jam / Rotor Locked
E03
Garbage disposal trips the circuit breaker or GFCI immediately when switched on.
Motor or Wiring Short Circuit
E04
Digital Maxmatic disposal displays E04 and shuts off shortly after starting, often under heavy load.
Overcurrent / Overload Protection Trip
E05
Digital Maxmatic disposal shows E05 and will not start; a faint click may be heard from the control module.
Motor Start Failure / Capacitor Fault
E06
Digital Maxmatic disposal displays E06 and refuses to run; may occur after a power surge or lightning event.
Control Module Communication / Logic Fault
E07
Digital Maxmatic disposal shows E07 and stops mid-cycle; may restart and stop repeatedly.
Thermal Overload / Overheating Motor
E08
Digital Maxmatic disposal displays E08 and will not run; often associated with a blinking LED near the sink switch module.
Sink Switch / User Interface Fault
E09
Digital Maxmatic disposal shows E09 and stops whenever the dishwasher runs, or when water backs up from the dishwasher inlet.
Dishwasher Inlet / Backflow Fault Detection
E10
Digital Maxmatic disposal displays E10 and will not start; error appears immediately when switch is turned on.
Jam Sensor / Torque Sensor Fault
E11
Digital Maxmatic disposal shows E11 and runs only at a very low speed or pulses on and off.
Variable Speed Control Fault
E12
Digital Maxmatic disposal displays E12 and the unit stops whenever water splashes heavily into the sink or onto the switch.
Moisture / Ground Fault Detection
E13
Digital Maxmatic disposal shows E13 and the unit runs for only 1–2 seconds before shutting off.
Current Sensor / Load Detection Error
E14
Digital Maxmatic disposal displays E14 and the unit cannot detect the sink stopper or safety interlock, so it will not run.
Sink Stopper / Safety Interlock Fault
E15
Digital Maxmatic disposal shows E15 and the unit runs but then stops with a beeping or flashing pattern indicating imbalance.
Rotor Imbalance / Vibration Fault
E16
Digital Maxmatic disposal displays E16 and will not accept remote commands from the wireless switch or app (if equipped).
Wireless Control / Pairing Fault
Symptom
Garbage disposal causes water to back up into the opposite sink basin in a double sink configuration.
Improper Drain Configuration / Partial Clog
Symptom
Garbage disposal emits a high-pitched squeal or screeching noise when running.
Worn Motor or Shaft Bearings
Symptom
Garbage disposal emits a persistent foul odor even after running with water.
Organic Buildup / Biofilm in Chamber and Drain
Symptom
Garbage disposal leaks from the connection where the dishwasher drain hose attaches.
Dishwasher Inlet Connection Leak
Symptom
Garbage disposal leaks from the side or bottom of the housing during operation.
Internal Seal or Casing Leak
Symptom
Garbage disposal leaks from the top where it meets the sink basin.
Sink Flange Seal Failure
Symptom
Garbage disposal makes a loud grinding, scraping, or metallic noise during operation.
Foreign Object in Grinding Chamber
Symptom
Garbage disposal makes a loud humming noise when switched on but does not grind; after a few seconds it shuts off.
Mechanical Jam / Locked Rotor
Symptom
Garbage disposal motor stops abruptly with a burning smell or visible smoke from under the sink.
Motor Burnout / Electrical Overheating
Symptom
Garbage disposal runs but does not grind food effectively; food remains in the chamber or drains slowly away unprocessed.
Dull or Worn Grinding Components
Symptom
Garbage disposal runs but occasionally stalls or slows dramatically when small amounts of food are added.
Weak Motor / Failing Start Capacitor
Symptom
Garbage disposal runs but the sink fills with water when the dishwasher drains.
Backflow from Dishwasher into Disposal
Symptom
Garbage disposal runs but water backs up into the sink and drains very slowly.
Clogged Discharge / Drain Line Restriction
Symptom
Garbage disposal runs but water leaks from the removable cleanout or access plug (if equipped).
Loose or Damaged Cleanout Plug Seal
Symptom
Garbage disposal runs but water sprays or splashes excessively out of the sink opening.
Missing or Damaged Splash Guard
Symptom
Garbage disposal switch produces a buzzing sound but the unit does not start.
Defective Wall Switch or Loose Connection
Symptom
Garbage disposal trips the GFCI outlet but not the main breaker when turned on.
Ground Fault / Leakage Current
Symptom
Garbage disposal turns on by itself intermittently or runs when the switch is off.
Switch or Control Stuck Closed
Symptom
Garbage disposal vibrates excessively and causes the sink and countertop to shake during operation.
Imbalance / Mounting Vibration
Symptom
Garbage disposal will not run unless the reset button is pressed each time before use.
Nuisance Tripping of Overload Protector
Symptom
Garbage disposal will not turn on; no sound, but the reset button has already been pressed and stays in.
