Possible Causes
Lost pairing between remote and control, Interference from other wireless devices, Dead remote battery, Failed wireless receiver on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: For pairing operations, you typically do not need to open electrical enclosures, but do not defeat any safety interlocks.
- Replace remote battery: Open the Maxmatic remote or wireless switch and install a fresh battery of the specified type.
- Re-pair the remote: Follow the Maxmatic manual to enter pairing mode (often by holding a button on the control or remote for several seconds) and re-establish communication.
- Reduce interference: Move Wi-Fi routers or other 2.4 GHz devices away from the sink area if possible, and test again.
- Fallback control: If your model also has a hard-wired switch, test operation from that switch to confirm the disposal itself is functional.
If E16 remains and the hard-wired control works, the wireless receiver portion of the control module may be defective and require replacement.
