Maxmatic
Clogged Discharge / Drain Line Restriction
Garbage disposal runs but water backs up into the sink and drains very slowly.

Possible Causes
Clogged Maxmatic discharge outlet, Blocked P-trap under sink, Grease buildup in drain line, Improperly installed baffle or splash guard restricting flow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the disposal and do not run it while the sink is full of standing water.
- Check the sink baffle: Remove the rubber splash guard/baffle and clean any food buildup that may be restricting flow.
- Inspect the discharge elbow: Disconnect the drain pipe from the disposal discharge outlet and check for clogs inside the elbow or outlet. Clear debris with a brush.
- Clean the P-trap: Place a bucket under the trap, remove it, and clear any obstructions. Reassemble and check for leaks.
- Avoid chemical drain cleaners: Use a mechanical snake or auger for deeper clogs rather than harsh chemicals that can damage seals.
If the disposal outlet and P-trap are clear but drainage is still slow, the clog may be further in the home’s plumbing and a plumber may be needed.
