Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and do not continue using a disposal that leaks from the body; water can reach electrical components.
- Identify leak location: Run a small amount of water and observe carefully with a flashlight to see if the leak is from the dishwasher inlet, discharge connection, or the body itself.
- Check hose connections: Tighten the dishwasher inlet clamp and discharge pipe connections. Replace any worn rubber gaskets.
- Body leak assessment: If water seeps from seams in the metal or plastic housing, the internal seals or chamber are compromised.
- Do not attempt internal resealing: Internal leaks are not reliably repairable in most disposals.
For leaks from the body or shaft area, replacement of the entire Maxmatic disposal unit is the recommended solution.
