Possible Causes

Broken or missing impeller lugs, Bent impeller plate, Heavy debris stuck on one side of plate, Worn motor shaft causing wobble

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before placing any tools into the disposal.

  • Clear debris: Use tongs to remove any large items or clumps of fibrous material from the grinding chamber.
  • Manual rotation: Rotate the plate via the hex port and feel for uneven resistance or scraping. Listen for grinding noises when turning.
  • Visual inspection: With a flashlight, inspect the impeller lugs and plate. If one lug is missing or the plate is visibly bent, the assembly is out of balance.
  • Test after clearing: Restore power and run with only water. If vibration and E15 persist, internal components are likely damaged.

Significant imbalance usually requires replacement of the Maxmatic grinding plate assembly or the entire disposal unit.
