Possible Causes

Failed electronic sink switch module, Broken low-voltage control wire, Defective wireless remote (if equipped), Misaligned magnetic air switch actuator

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before removing any switch or control covers.

  • Test the outlet directly: If the disposal is corded, temporarily bypass the sink switch by plugging the unit into a known-good switched outlet (or use a test cord) to confirm the motor runs. Do this only if you are comfortable and understand electrical safety.
  • Inspect the sink switch module: For Maxmatic models with a countertop or wall-mounted electronic switch, remove the cover and check for moisture, corrosion, or loose connectors.
  • Check low-voltage wiring: Trace the small-gauge control wires from the switch to the disposal control module. Ensure there are no cuts or disconnections.
  • Wireless/air switch models: Replace the battery in the remote if applicable, and verify the air tube is not kinked or filled with water.

If the disposal runs when directly powered but E08 persists when using the normal switch, replace the Maxmatic sink switch or user interface module.
