Possible Causes
Low water level in spa, Air lock in heater manifold, Blocked filter or suction, Failed circulation pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker. Do not run the heater without confirmed water flow.
- 1. Check water level: Ensure the water is above all jets and skimmer openings. Top off if needed.
- 2. Clean filter: Remove and thoroughly rinse the Coleman filter cartridge. For testing, run the spa briefly without the filter to see if the error clears.
- 3. Bleed air from heater: Loosen heater unions slightly to release trapped air until water flows steadily, then retighten. Some Coleman pumps have a bleed screw on the face—open carefully to purge air.
- 4. Verify circulation pump: Restore power and observe the circulation pump. If it does not run or only hums, turn power off and inspect for obstructions or seized bearings. Replace the circulation pump if it will not start.
- 5. Reset and test: After correcting flow issues, power cycle the spa. If dr returns, have a technician check heater element integrity and control logic.
