Possible Causes
Severely restricted flow through heater, Empty or partially drained spa, Heater element damaged from previous dry fire, Faulty flow detection circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker. Do not attempt to run the spa until water level and flow are confirmed.
- 1. Confirm spa is full: Verify the tub is filled to the proper level. Refill if necessary.
- 2. Inspect for leaks: Check around the heater, pump unions, and plumbing for signs of leaks that could lower water level in the heater section.
- 3. Clean filter and check suction: Remove and clean the filter. Inspect suction fittings and skimmer for debris or blockages.
- 4. Bleed and prime pumps: Open bleed screws or unions on the circulation and jet pumps to remove air. Ensure pumps are fully primed and moving water.
- 5. Heater damage check: If the heater has run dry previously, the element may be warped or burned. A technician should test heater resistance and replace the heater assembly if out of spec.
- 6. Control pack evaluation: If dy persists with confirmed good flow and a good heater, the control pack's dry-fire detection circuit may be faulty and the board may need replacement.
