Possible Causes
Water temperature near freezing, Temperature sensor reading low, Cold ambient conditions around spa cabinet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not shut off power to the spa in freezing conditions; freeze protection prevents plumbing damage.
- 1. Verify conditions: If outdoor temperatures are near or below freezing, ICE is a normal protective function. The spa will run pumps to circulate warm water.
- 2. Keep cover on: Ensure the Coleman cover is properly in place to retain heat. Check for tears or gaps that allow excessive heat loss.
- 3. Confirm water level: Maintain proper water level so pumps do not draw in air while running for freeze protection.
- 4. Sensor check: If ICE appears in warm weather, compare displayed temperature to a thermometer. A faulty sensor may be reading too low and should be replaced.
- 5. Insulate cabinet: In very cold climates, add insulation around the spa cabinet (without blocking vents) to reduce freeze cycles.
