Possible Causes

User-activated panel lock function, Stuck keypad buttons, Moisture intrusion in topside control

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: No internal electrical work is required for this issue. Do not open the control pack unless necessary.

  • 1. Try unlock sequence: On many Coleman topside panels, press and hold the Temperature Up and Temperature Down buttons together for 3–5 seconds to toggle the lock. Check your specific Coleman manual for the exact combination.
  • 2. Power cycle: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker for 30 seconds, then restore. If LOC returns immediately, the lock function is still enabled; repeat the unlock sequence.
  • 3. Inspect keypad: Check for stuck or damaged buttons. If the panel is wet or has condensation under the display, allow it to dry completely. Do not use heat guns or hair dryers directly on the panel.
  • 4. Replace topside control: If the lock will not clear and buttons are unresponsive, the Coleman topside control panel may be faulty and should be replaced with the correct model for your control pack.
