Possible Causes
Seized Pump 1 motor, Tripped thermal overload on Pump 1, Loose pump wiring at control pack, Failed pump relay on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker before touching the pump or wiring.
- 1. Check for obstructions: Remove the pump access panel and inspect around Pump 1 (primary jet pump). Ensure no debris is blocking the impeller or shaft.
- 2. Spin the shaft: If accessible, try to rotate the pump shaft by hand with power off. A seized shaft indicates the pump needs replacement.
- 3. Inspect wiring: Verify that Pump 1's wires are securely connected to the control pack terminals and show no signs of burning.
- 4. Thermal overload: Allow the pump to cool for 30–60 minutes, then restore power and try again. If it runs briefly then trips again, the motor is likely failing.
- 5. Relay/board fault: If the pump tests good but never receives power, the Pump 1 relay on the control board may be defective and the board will need replacement.
